RRRIPP!! Paper Fashion
This catalogue accompanied the exhibition of the same name organised by the cultural society ATOPOS at the Benaki Museum (02/03/2007 – 29/04/2007). Using the ATOPOS collection of paper fashion from the sixties as its starting point, the book extends the study of the links between paper and garments, and examines the use of paper in contemporary fashion through art, advertising, videos and the creations of some of the most innovative designers of our age; as well as in countries with a tradition of using paper, such as Japan, China and the equatorial countries.
The following have contributed articles to the catalogue: Vassilis Zidianakis (artistic director of ATOPOS and curator of this exhibition); Christina Leitner (Professor at the Arts University Linz); Alexandra Palmer (curator of the Fashion Department of the Royal Ontario Museum); Myrsini Pihou (curator of the ATOPOS collection); Lydia Kamitsi (Professor of the Archaeology of Fashion at the Sorbonne); Kaat Debo (curator at the Antwerp Fashion Museum); and Akiko Fukai (director of the Kyoto Costume Institute).
