A talk by Caroline Finkel
will take place within the framework of the exhibition Evliya Çelebi: The Book of Travels
entitled: “On the trail of Evliya Çelebi: an Anatolian adventure".
Caroline Finkel is an historian and author. Her historical interests focus on the geographical limits of the Ottoman world. She was active in organising the Programme Evliya Çelebi Ride which traces the journeys undertaken by the renowned Ottoman traveller. (1611- c.1683). Her book Osman’s Dream, History of the Ottoman 1300-1923 has been translated into many languages. In 2006 she was honoured with the Women of Distinction Award by Daughters of Atatürk, the international relations group.
