It is not the first time that Nicholas and Matti Egon support the work of the Benaki Museum. In spring 2007, in conjunction with his major exhibition ‘Nicholas Egon in Greece,’ the artist offered for sale some of the exhibition’s works and the proceeds backed the Museum’s aims. In 2011, the Egons were among the first to respond, with a significant contribution, to Angelos Delivorrias’s call for help towards the completion of The Ghika Gallery.
Now, two years after Nicholas’s passing, Matti Egon has offered 22 paintings to the Benaki Museum on the proviso they will be sold in its benefit. Furthermore, she has allowed the Museum to choose the works.
As a result, 22 of Nicholas Egon’s finest and most beautiful works will be exhibited at The Ghika Gallery and will offer visitors the opportunity to enjoy his superb technique and his special approach to the Greek landscape.
